The RACP grant is a Pennsylvania Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. YMCA of Bucks County applied for the grant in early spring and received immediate bi-partisan support from Pennsylvania Senators Robert Tomlinson (R-6) and Steve Santarsiero (D-10).

Senator Tomlinson, who serves a large portion of Bucks County from Warwick to Bristol Townships, provided $1.5 million of the $2 million grant award.

“YMCA of Bucks County is a valuable community resource that I am pleased to support,” said Tomlinson. “These projects mean the Y can expand the health, recreation and educational services they already provide and offer more free community programs to benefit county residents including veterans, cancer survivors and individuals recovering from substance disorder.”

Funds received through the grant will be utilized to complete significant capital renovations that will ensure YMCA of Bucks County branches can continue to meet the needs of children, teens, adults and seniors, of all socio-economic levels. Renovations will improve many aspects of the Y’s facilities including upgraded and accessible locker rooms, expanded wellness/fitness spaces, additional studios and classrooms, as well as community gathering spaces.

Senator Santarsiero (D-10) provided $500,000 of support.

“I supported the RACP grant request because YMCA of Bucks County provides residents across our community the ability to grow as individuals and develop lasting connections with their neighbors,” said Santarsiero. “This grant will allow the Y to expand upon the exceptional services our community has come to expect from Bucks YMCA staff and volunteers.”

RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.

“We are so grateful to Governor Tom Wolf, Senators Tomlinson and Santarsiero, and State Representatives from throughout Bucks County for their support,” said Zane Moore, President/CEO of YMCA of Bucks County. “This grant will enable our Y to complete significant capital renovations ensuring we can continue to positively impact the health and wellness of our community and provide programs that benefit special populations.”

In addition to the support of Senators Robert Tomlinson and Steve Santarsiero, the following Pennsylvania  State Representatives advocated for the Y’s grant request: Tina M. Davis, 141st District; John Galloway, 140th District; Frank Farry, 142nd District, Gene DiGirolamo, 18th District; Wendi Thomas, 178th District, Perry Warren, 31st District; Meghan Schroeder, 29th District; and Wendy Ullman, 143rd District.
