Personal Victories, Great Moments at 11th Annual Kids Triathlon at Y
A beautiful sunny day greeted more than 260 young triathletes who participated in the 11th annual Kids Triathlon held Sunday at the Doylestown branch of YMCA of Bucks County.
Youth age 3-14 participated in the race which consisted of three events – swimming, biking and running – with distances based on age. A 3-5 year old division (WeeBees) competed accompanied by a parent or guardian in a 12 meter swim, .25 mile bike and .12 mile run. As they crossed the finish line, runners were given a completion medal.
This year’s race was sponsored by NovaCare Rehabilitation, Penn Community Bank, Fred Beans Family of Dealerships, GMG Insurance Agency, Bucks County Orthodontics, Bucks County Triathlon Club and JJS Consulting.
The triathlon is timed, but the event is considered a compete-to-complete race with participant results provided after the race. In all, over 100 community volunteers and staff helped to keep the course safe for the children. The event is organized by staff and volunteers of YMCA of Bucks County and all proceeds from the triathlon benefit the Y’s Annual Campaign, which ensures that individuals, youth and families can participate in Y programs regardless of their ability to pay.
