Expansion Opens Friday, April 23 - A Letter to Members
Dear YMCA of Bucks County Member,
I am thrilled to share that after 7 years of planning, 5 years of fundraising and 18 months of construction, all areas of our Doylestown branch expansion are opening on Friday! This is cause for celebration for all of us as it creates greater opportunity to positively impact the health and well-being of our families, friends, and neighbors. The additional space provides new features and equipment to enhance your membership experience and will enable us to provide more programs for youth, seniors and members of our pathway programs including our Veterans Wellness and THRIVE cancer wellness.
I want to extend a special note of gratitude to all donors, volunteers, members and staff who supported the Doylestown expansion project. Your vision, determination, hard work and patience throughout the process has paid off and we could not have done this without you. I hope you are as proud as I am of what we accomplished together.
The information below highlights the new spaces and equipment and what you need to know to enjoy our new facilities. I hope you will join us for our Spring Fling Grand Opening Celebration on Friday evening from 5-7:30PM. Thank you for being a member of YMCA of Bucks County and I look forward to seeing you at the Y!
Bucks County Strong,

Introducing our Wellness CenterNow open! So much more than a fitness center, we are proud to introduce our Wellness Center, expanding the existing wellness footprint by 3,500 square feet for greater opportunities to stretch, train and move towards wellness. We have also added new equipment while valuing safety protocols.
Already very popular is the HOIST MotionCage providing a series of functional training system exercise stations and a great way to add variety to workouts including punching bag, rock climbing wall, traversing peg board, monkey bars, jump platform, duale pulley station, battle ropes and rebounder. Need help getting to know the equipment? Please ask a Health and Safety Champion.
Additional New Equipment
In addition to the HOIST MotionCage, we are also introducing many new machines including Alpine Runner Treadmills, Airdyne Bike, Curve Treadmills, Squat Racks, and plenty more!
Safe & Spacious
We are opening our newly expanded facility with a focus on safety and spacing, new HVAC with UV-C air sanitizing units, no touch doors, more touch free bottle fillers and ample space between machines not envisioned in the original plans.
Group Exercise & Spin Studios
All of the strength equipment has been removed from our studios and Studios 1, 2, 3, 4 are now open for programs! While state mandates remain in place, we will offer low-impact, 100% mask required programs in our bright, spacious studios. Visit our website for schedules and registration links at ymcabucks.org/schedules.
New Studio Names
With the added spaces, many of our existing spaces have changed names. See below for a helpful guide:
- Studio C/D (near Welcome Center) is now Studio 1
- Studio A (next to gymnasium) is now Studio 2
- New program studio (past Wellness Center) is now Studio 3
- Spin Studio is now Studio 4
Spin Studio - Opening April 23
Spin classes are back and in a brand new studio! Based on COVID safety restrictions, currently 15 bikes are available for each instructor-led class.
Registration is required for our spin classes. Visit our website for schedules and registration links at ymcabucks.org/schedules. When not in use for classes, the room will be locked but spin bikes are available for member use in the Wellness Center.
Programs will continue outdoors and indoors in our studios. Group exercise classes currently require advanced registration. Visit our website for schedules and registration links at ymcabucks.org/schedules.
Pool Viewing Area
The pool viewing area has reopened and provides a great view of children participating in swim lessons held in our Water Park Pool. Perfect for parents with children not in swim lessons.
Pools and Sauna
Both our Waterpark Pool, Lap Pool and Whirlpool continue to utilize a reservation system. The sauna is open for use with a limit of one person at a time OR two members of the same household for a maximum of 15 minutes per day. Reservations are not required for sauna.
Universal Locker Room
Welcome to our new Universal Locker Room! This locker room is intended for families with children and individuals with special situations who require individuals of ranging ages and/or different genders to access locker room services together. As this is a unique, new space, please click here to review our Universal Locker Room guidelines or watch this informative video.
Stay & Play
As more members return to the branch, we continue to increase hours to our Stay & Play offerings and will begin offering services on Tuesday/Thursday, 9:00-11:30AM in addition to our current hours.
Tues/Thur (beginning 4/27/21)
Lobby and Lounge Furniture Returns
With masks still required 100% of the time indoors, we are returning table/chair furniture pieces to the branch. Surfaces will be cleaned periodically.
Chambers 19 Cafe remains closed with an anticipated return of fall, 2021.
Thank you to the many individual and corporate donors who have made this project possible.
The expansion at the Doylestown branch directly impacts our ability to support the community in meaningful ways.
Want to Leave Your Legacy?
We continue to raise needed dollars for this project and as part of the campaign, donors who give between $1,500 to $10,000 over two years will be recognized in a colorful, tile mosaic display which is currently in a pre-creation phase. If you are interested in supporting the project and leaving your legacy please contact Angela Jacobsen, regional director of development, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 215.348.8131, x1124.
