Leo Quinn Burpee award 2021BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA  -- YMCA of Bucks County recently announced the recipient of the 2020 Lois Burpee Service Award. In a ceremony held at Five Ponds Golf Club on October 22, 2021, Leo Quinn was honored for his service to the Warminster community, most especially the integral role played in the opening of the YMCA’s Warminster branch.

The award was introduced by Zane Moore, President/CEO of YMCA of Bucks County and ultimately presented, as is tradition, by the most recent honoree, Jack McCaughan. Quinn served on the YMCA of Bucks County Board of Directors from 2017 to 2019 and served on the YMCA’s Warminster Steering Committee during that time. He is a retired Warminster Township Supervisor, serving as treasurer during his tenure from 2004-2014.

“The importance of service was ingrained in me by my parents. I dedicate this to them,” said Quinn during the ceremony.

Established in memory of longtime YMCA volunteer Lois Burpee, the award has been presented annually since 1985 in tribute to her memory and active service to the YMCA as a volunteer and benefactor. Lois and David Burpee also donated the land where the Doylestown branch currently stands. On an annual basis, YMCA Trustees present the award in recognition of outstanding volunteer efforts to the YMCA by an individual, company or organization.
