YMCA of Bucks County membership branches will be closed Saturday, March 14, 2020 - Sunday, March 29, 2020. To best serve our working families, our Youth Education Centers and Here for You Camp Program will remain open.

Dear YMCA of Bucks County Member,

To say the last few days have been a rollercoaster is an understatement. My executive leadership team and I have been in close contact with our PA State Alliance of YMCAs, local health officials, and statewide YMCA CEOs monitoring the changing environment minute by minute. Today, Governor Wolf closed all K-12 schools across the state. In response to this, and other community organizations following suit, we are presented with the reality of a shutdown. I have been struggling all day with our civic and social responsibility. Are we being socially responsible by staying open to serve our communities when they need us most, or are we being irresponsible by enabling the spread of the virus in our busy facilities? I have concluded the latter, and for this reason I am making the decision to close our facilities to members starting Saturday, March 14 through Sunday, March 29.

However, we recognize that as schools and businesses close, families in Bucks County will need child care more than ever. In an effort to best serve our communities in this time of need, we will keep our child care youth education centers open, and potentially offer additional child care to our families in need. We are doing this under the operational guidelines from the Office of Child Development and Early Learning that was released today.

At this point, we are preparing to re-open our membership branches on Monday, March 30. We will evaluate this daily and be ready to adapt if necessary. These are uncharted waters and very tough decisions. I strongly believe that following our core value of acting responsibly guides us to making the best decisions for our communities.

Please see our attached Frequently Asked Questions document <HERE> for answers to key questions you may have about your membership, our extended Spring I program session, and temporary child care options.

We thank you for being a member and for sticking with us during this uncertain time. We want to thank you for supporting our Y and our staff who proudly serve you every day. Your continued membership means we can continue to be here supporting you, your neighbor, and your community.

Yours in good health,
Zane Moore
