Gymnastics

Gymnastics at the Y is a great way to increase strength, flexibility, agility and confidence in youth. At the Y, gymnastics is taught in a progressive manner by age and skill level developing tumbling skills and use of gymnastics equipment. Classes available for a variety of ages and abilities.

Quakertown

Our Quakertown branch offers gymnastics for every level, from Parent/Toddler through a competitive team. Participants in our competitive gymnastics team will be invited to join after finishing of our Level 4 class in progressive classes. The Quakertown gymnastics center features a full competitive 45’x45’ AAI spring floor, a 60 ' additional spring tumlbing strip, 2  AAI vaulting tables, two competitive AAI bar sets and seven balance beams (four of which are AAI spring competition beams) and 30′ long TumblTrak. Gymnasts have the opportunity to compete at the local, state, regional and national level. The Quakertown team holds several state titles and has gymnasts qualify at the national level for YMCA Nationals for the past 20 years.

Competitive team levels include:

  • Level 3 competitive team
  • Level 4 competitive team
  • Level 5-9 competitive team
  • XCEL (silver and gold) competitive team

Parent/Child Classes
Dance with Me - Parent/Child (2 to 4 yrs)
Dance and enjoy the music with our Dance with Me class. In this class we will learn to dance together and most importantly have fun!

Tumbling Together - Parent/Child Class (2 to 4 yrs)
Come learn and explore the basics of Tumbling and Gymnastics. Children will learn basic skills that will help them grow in the sport.

Advanced Gymnastics (5+ yrs)
Prerequisite: Beg II and instructor approval. Designed for the experienced gymnast. Small group instruction on floor, beam and bar.

Introduction to advanced skills on Gym Kidz Circuit. Progressing to independent and more complex tumbling skills.

Independent tumbling, includes cartwheel and handstand on balance beam and flips on the uneven bars.

This class introduces young ones to concentrate on balance, coordination, basic locomotor and social skills. This is a parent participation class and parents must remain with their child at all times. We ask parents to support and encourage their child.

Kindergym (3 to 5 yrs)
Instructional preschool gymnastics classes. Children will use all pieces of appartus; vault, bars, beam, floor and tumbletrak. Evaluations will occur week 6 and 7 of each session.

Instructional Parent-Tot class. Children will do basic gymnastics skills with guidance of their parent and under instruction of gymnastics teacher.

Your preschooler will run through an obstacle course like a warrior. This class will have preschool friendly physical challenges each week and children will work to improve physical strength and endurance.

Progressive Gymnastics - Advanced Class (5-15 yrs)
For gymnasts who are currently a level 3 or higher looking for more time each week to work on their skills. Gymnasts must be recommended by their instructor or the gymnastics director for this class. Skills are taught on all pieces of equipment (vault, bars, beam, floor, and tumble trak.)
