Introducing Mr. P to announce summer schedule changes (Doylestown branch)

06.11.2019

Dear Valued Members,

Summer is fast approaching and we are grateful that you are a member of YMCA of Bucks County, Doylestown branch. As your wellness provider of choice, please know how proud we are to engage with you in serving of our mission: YMCA of Bucks County is a charitable, nonprofit organization committed to strengthening our communities through membership and programs that foster youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for all.

This summer, the youth development pillar of our mission comes to life through summer camp, where in Doylestown we will impact over 500 youth each and every day, right on campus. To embrace the increased usage on campus and to best serve ALL, our summer schedules shift.

Pineapple Day

The purpose of this letter is to share with you some important, member-focused changes we are making to our summer schedule this year. If you were a member with us summer 2018, you may recall we experienced a lot of summer storms and high heat indexes; which meant our campers came inside and programming was quickly modified. In learning from this experience, and never wanting our members to experience a quick, sudden change - this summer, the staff and I are proud to introduce Pineapple Days; a fun, creative communication system to members and guests to announce indoor schedule changes so we may bring our campers safely inside.

pineappleRWe heard you
Summer 2018, one of the greatest frustrations we would hear is, “I drove all the way in, parked, and walked into the Y, only to learn my class was cancelled.” To prevent this from happening, in addition to sending texts and postings to our website, you will also see Mr. P raised by the entrance of our parking lot. When you see him, know we have entered Pineapple Day mode, which means:

Based on the timing of the storm and/or high heat index, campers will come inside. On Pineapple Days changes to programming include:

  • If the storm and/or high heat index is in the morning, group exercise classes will be cancelled between 9AM and 12PM > this is a PERFECT opportunity to join one of our group exercise classes in our beautiful, welcoming, Warminster branch. Please click here for our summer group exercise schedule in Warminster.
  • If the storm and/or high heat index is during lunch hour, lunchtime basketball will be cancelled

  • Silver Matinee Membership hours will extend to 7am-7pm

  • Easy to follow, fun workouts designed by a personal trainer will be available at our Welcome Center

Exciting News!
To increase your membership experience, we are very happy to provide this summer:
  • 13 NEW Group Exercise classes have been added to the summer schedule (offered before 9AM and after 6:30PM)

  • Stay & Play hours will be expanded, we will open at 7AM, Monday - Friday

  • Now offering Les Mills on Demand; sign up through the Y at a discounted rate, and receive Les Mills classes right in your own home or on vacation! Details and online registration link found HERE.

Again, thank you for being a member of YMCA of Bucks County | Doylestown.
