Jack McCaughan Honored with 2019 Burpee Award
The Doylestown branch of YMCA of Bucks County is privileged to announce that Jack McCaughan is the 2019 recipient of The Lois Burpee Service Award.
Jack McCaughan began his lifelong support of the Y in the Montreal metro area of Canada where he was instrumental in establishing two YMCA branches and serving on the board of directors. Later, he also served as the chair of the Greater Philadelphia YMCA Board of Directors. For the last seven years, McCaughan has been a strong supporter of the Doylestown branch of YMCA of Bucks County (formerly Central Bucks Family YMCA) serving as a trustee, volunteer and financial supporter. McCaughan and his wife Carol support other regional nonprofit organizations including Bucks Beautiful, the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic and Doylestown Health.
The award was presented on June 26 in a ceremony held at Cock ‘n Bull Restaurant in Lahaska, PA.
Established in memory of longtime YMCA volunteer, Lois Burpee, the award has been presented annually since 1985 in tribute to the memory of this active YMCA volunteer and benefactor. Lois and David Burpee also donated the land where the Doylestown branch currently stands. On an annual basis, Central Bucks region trustees present the award in recognition of outstanding volunteer efforts to the YMCA by an individual, company or organization.Photo captions:
